Standard Chartered Bank keen to work with Pakistan: Mohsin Nathani
Islamabad, August 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mr. Mohsin Nathani, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Pakistan called on the Finance Minister here Thursday.
During the meeting Mr. Nathani informed the Finance Minister that Standard Chartered Bank was upbeat about the economy of Pakistan in the backdrop of the measures taken by the new government for the revival of the economy as well as addressing structural imbalances.
Mr. Mohsin Nathani’s meeting with the Finance Minister comes on the heels of an earlier meeting of Mr. Peter Sands, Group Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, UK standard chartered bank held on July 4, 2013.
During the meeting Mr. Mohsin Nathani discussed various proposals for extending support to the government of Pakistan including the interest shown by Standard Chartered Bank in extending financial support for Neelum Jehlum hydro-electric Project.
Mr. Mohisn Nathani informed the Finance Minister that both Standards and Poor (S and P) and Moodys are positive on Pakistan’s economy which would open new opportunities for Pakistan.
Senator Ishaq Dar welcomed the interest shown by Standard Chartered Bank and said that the measures taken by the government including a program with IMF are aimed to give comfort to investors. He said that these measures would help in creating an environment conducive for doing business in Pakistan and stimulate growth of the economy.
