Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry asks for extension of date for filing Sales Tax Returns

Be First!

Islamabad, August 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue to extend the last date for filing Sales Tax Returns in view of the monsoon season and the long spate of public holidays during the first two weeks of August 2013.

In a statement issued by FPCCI, it was pointed out that August 15, 2013 is the last date for filing sales tax returns. However, due to heavy rains throughout the country in general, and Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular; as well as Ramadan, Eid Holidays and the Independence Day break virtually from August 7-14, 2013, the country’s business houses have not been able to finalize their tax returns. There is also a problem in electronic filing that some businessmen have complained about.

In view of the above factors, FPCCI has called for the deadline for filing sales tax returns to be extended up to August 31, 2013 in order to allow the business community to file their sales tax returns conveniently.
