Intra OIC Trade and Investment Ties Need to Be Enhanced-Zakaria Usman, President FPCCI
Islamabad, April 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): Zakaria Usman, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) attended the 30th General Assembly, 19th Board of Directors and 52nd Financial Committee Meetings of the ICCIA held in Tunis, Tunisia from 31st March 2014 to 2nd April 2014. More than 100 renowned businessmen and industrialists from more than twenty OIC countries, including the representative of Secretary General of OIC attended the ICCIA meetings.
H. E. Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors opened the Meeting. He said the Islamic Ummah is not in the best of its condition these days, and that it reached a degree of deterioration that never happened in the recent era. He mentioned that the Board Members are a distinguished group that represent the apex of the business sector of the Islamic World, and that they ought to undertake their due role.
Zakaria Usman, President FPCCI said that he was delighted to join the gathering of members of Board of Directors of ICCIA at its 19th meeting held here in Tunis. He commended and expressed his appreciations to H.E. Ouided Bouchamaoui, President of UTICA for hosting the ICCIA meetings in Tunis and for making excellent arrangements of the meetings.
During the meeting he suggested various actions and measures for the growth of the ICCIA and its financial resources, and emphasized on the enhancement of intra OIC trade and investment. The President ICCIA and members of Board of Directors of ICCIA appreciated the suggestions.
Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin, Secretary General, ICCIA made a detailed presentation on the ICCIA’s 3-year (2014-17) Work Plan. The aim of the Plan is to transfer the ICCIA strategic objectives into practical measurable objectives.
H.E. Shaikh Saleh Kamel, President ICCIA made a comprehensive presentation on the International Centre for Growth and Employment (AL-MASFAQ). He informed that AL-MASFAQ is an investment and trade centre that would enable businessmen to exercise economic activities in its all forms and types.
Mr. Mohamed El-Banna, Deputy Secretary General of ICCIA made a presentation of the results of the feasibility study conducted on ICCIA’s Halal Project.
The General Assembly took note of the ICCIA activities that were undertaken during the period from 27th October 2013 to 1st April 2014. It also took note of the future ICCIA activities and requested the Member Institutions that are interested in hosting any of the above activities to address the General Secretariat for coordination.
It was decided to hold the 20th Board of Directors Meeting in Istanbul – Republic of Turkey on the sidelines of the COMCEC Meeting in November 2014 and 21st Board of Directors and the 31st General Assembly Meeting in Uganda in April 2015.
