Directorate of Health Services operation against un-hygenic food sellers

Islamabad, April 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): Acting in accordance with directions of Member Administration CDA Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) is vigorously active to eliminate the availability of sub-standard, adulterated and un-hygienic food stuff from the Capital City.

Directorate of Health Services has been carrying on its successful campaign against sub-standard and un-hygienic eatables in the city for quite some time. In line with the directions of Member Administration straight actions, on the spot as per law, is taken against the violators of the principles of public health and the relevant laws.

Moreover, zero tolerance is being shown towards the food handlers who don’t follow the law and commit a second offence. The DHS is further trying that all food handlers must wear proper dress i.e caps, aprons and gloves etc.

The DHS teams during last week conducted several operations in this regard in different areas of Islamabad. During this activity 49 notices and 24 challans were issued. One (01) restaurant and one (1) pakora shop at G-7 Markz were partially sealed.

Similarly, ninety (90) litters of expired soft drinks, 10 liters of non-branded Ketchup, multiple rotten apples, oranges, Kashmiri chillies, 6 packets of expired peanut butter and 30 utensils including kettles, cups and plates were also confiscated from various hotels and shops. The confiscated food stuff and utensils were done away with afterwards.

Directorate of Health Services is conducting this campaign by two specially constituted teams; each led by food inspector and supervised by a health officer while Director Health Services personally looks after the performance of the field teams.

Earlier, Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed directed Director Health Services to continue this drive with same zeal in order to ensure availability hygienic and quality food stuff in the residents of Islamabad.
