One District Food Controller suspended, action against several officers initiated: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar
Karachi, May 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that action is being taken against those officers who have failed to achieve wheat procurement target, in this connection district food controller Mirpurkhas Ali Muhammad Talpur has been suspended over his poor performance. This he said while talking to various delegations here in his office on Tuesday.
He said that Sindh Food Department had procured 11 Lac 40 thousand tonnes wheat so far while a record procurement had been made from Sukkur Division, where 50 lac wheat bags procured that was a record in the history of Province.
Provincial Minister added, ‘Show cause notices have been issued to the officers of six districts over their poor performance, there is no place in food department for those who fail to show efficiency’, he remarked. He said that the government was fully committed to provide relief to the masses and steps taken against hoarders had brought good result and the wheat was easily available in the province.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said ‘Ban on inter province movement of wheat and flour, and then imposition of Section 144 on inter-district movement of wheat has benefited to the growers’.
‘Strict steps have been taken against corruption which made the department to enable to get its target, and the target of 13 lac tonnes wheat will be achieved very soon’, he concluded.
