A peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s vital interest: Minister Ahsan Iqbal
Islamabad, June 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): “Peace and security of Pakistan and Afghanistan is interlinked because of presence of long porous border between the two neighbouring countries and a peaceful, stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s vital interest”, said Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal while meeting with Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Janan Mosazai.
Mr Janan Mosazai visited Federal Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal to discuss various possibilities for enhancing cooperation between two countries in regional peace and stability and economic activities.
Federal Minister said, “Time has come to move from geo- strategic to geo-economic cooperation in order to harness geographical potential. Greater economic cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan is vital for integrating the mass of 3 billion people around the region including China, South Asia and Central Asia. Uncertainty and instability in the region is hindering regional connectivity while terrorism and extremism is our common enemy. There is a need to enhance mutual cooperation and interaction to tackle destabilizing elements. ”
Ambassador Janan Mosazai appreciated the Government of Pakistan for providing scholarships to Afghan nationals in much desired field of science, technology and medicine in a large number and agreed with the Minister that economic cooperation needs to be enhanced manifold between the two countries.
