Modi should fulfil self-determination promise: Ali Raza
Brussels, July 02, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed, has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil promise of giving right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir during his visit to Srinagar.
Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels, said, “Six decade ago, the-then Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru himself had promised Kashmiris that India would not hold Kashmir forcibly but they would be given a chance to decide their future.”
There are reports that complete shutdown will be observed in IOK on Friday on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory.
The chairman Kashmir Council EU said, the shutdown call given by prominent Kashmiri leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Shabbir Shah have been a mark of protest against India’s continued denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and unabated human rights violations perpetrated by Indian army and police in the territory.
Kashmir Council EU expressed complete solidarity with people of occupied Kashmir particularly the leaders. Ali Raza Syed said large scale human rights violations were committed by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir and Indian authorities were out to press the mass resistance by the use of force.
