Flag hoisting ceremony at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to mark Independence Day
Lahore, August 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): The national flag was hoisted at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday to mark the 68th anniversary of the country’s establishment as an independent, sovereign nation.
As the national anthem was played, the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari, Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah and Vice President Kashif Anwar raised the flag to the mast before a gathering of Executive Committee Members. The proceedings began with recitation from the Holy Quran.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari paid tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for his sterling leadership, saying Pakistan was created to ensure social and economic equality for all its citizens.
He called for renewing the pledge to work for those ideals and to come up to the Quaid’s expectations. He also urged on the politicians to show unity in their ranks and work for the progress and prosperity of this country.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would not stay behind and continue to play its role for the promotion of trade and economic activities in the country. The LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah said that the country is full of resources but unfortunately lack of coordination among the various segments of the society, these resources could not be tapped properly.
He expressed the optimism that the nation will learn from its past mistakes and will embark on growth path for the benefit of the down trodden. The LCCI Vice President Kashif Anwar said that the spirit shown by the nation at the time of independence should be maintained.
