Gilani terms sham polls in IOK a military operation
Srinagar, November 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has described the so-called assembly elections in the territory as military operation, saying that the polls are being held under the shadow of guns.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “By arresting over 4,000 political leaders, activists and youth, the Indian government has turned the Valley into a big jail. This is not election but a military operation.” He said that no power could break the resolve of Kashmiri people and they would continue their struggle till final settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
The veteran leader said that the pro-India politicians, who were on payrolls of New Delhi, knew that Kashmir dispute had a strong base and hence they on the very onset of every election process started howling on Kashmir. He said that the pro-India politicians were neither sympathizers of Kashmiris nor were they interested in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute and they were responsible for the forced control of India over Kashmir.
Syed Ali Gilani said that if New Delhi was confident in its claim of Jammu and Kashmir being its integral part, then it should hold a referendum in the territory. He said that Kashmir was an internationally recognised dispute and the countless and unprecedented sacrifices offered by the Kashmiris would not be allowed to go waste. He appealed to the people to boycott the remaining phases of sham polls in the territory
