Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution to start functioning in Sindh under Employers Old-Age Benefits Act-2014
Karachi, August 31, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon has asked the Secretary Labour to constitute a transition unit in Labour Department to monitor and associate the activities of EOBI. He advised this while presiding over a meeting with the senior officers of EOBI on Monday.
The meeting was convened aimed at starting the EOBI institutional chartered functions on provincial level in Sindh, under the Sindh Employers Old-Age Benefits Act-2014. Director General (Investment)-EOBI, M. Riazuddin Qureshi briefed that all out efforts are being made to benefit the concern deserving persons. The EOBI is working for providing wages and pension to the deserving employees.
Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon noted that EOBI funds must be protected whether they are federal or provincial, while a solid mechanism is necessary for the task. He maintained that Labour Department Sindh shall cooperate and coordinate with EOBI in promoting the system in Sindh to the active satisfaction of the respective factors. He also required report to this effect, within a month from the Secretary Labour Sindh Abdul Rasheed Solangi, so that sustainability of EOBI in Sindh may be firmed up.
