Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi calls for unity among Muslim countries to counter terrorism and foster brotherhood
Islamabad, September 09, 2015 (PPI-OT):Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi has stressed for a coherent strategy by the Muslim ummah to counter terrorism and violent extremism. He said that extremism and terrorism was impeding peace, stability and progress of the Muslim Ummah. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of the Saudi Shoora Council led by Dr. Atalla bin Ahmad Abo Hassan, who called on him in Parliament House today.
Acting Speaker said that Muslim countries should forge unity among their ranks to confront negative elements and foster brotherhood and cooperation. He said that Islam is a religion of peace and abhors terrorism in all forms and manifestations. He also called for resolution for all regional disputes through negotiation and appreciated Saudi support for Kashmir issue extended to it at regional and international forums. He said that Pakistan is a peaceful country and desires to have cordial relations with all neighbouring countries.
The Acting Speaker said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were intertwined in eternal bonds of religion, brotherhood and history. He said that political hierarchy and people of Pakistan strongly desire to further solidify relations with Saudi Arabia. He stressed for continued interaction between legislators of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to exchange views and experiences. He informed the visiting members of the Saudi Shoora about the diverse composition of the 82-member Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly.
The Acting Speaker appreciated Saudi support in its socio-economic development. He said that cooperation in various fields could be further enhanced for mutual benefit of both the brotherly countries. He said that present government has created conducive environment for investment and Saudi investors should capitalize this opportunity and be part of the economic activities in Pakistan.
Dr. Dr. Atalla bin Ahmad Abo Hassan thanked Acting Speaker for the warm hospitality and said that Saudi Arabia also attaches immense importance to its time immemorial relations with Pakistan. He agreed that the frequent interaction between parliamentarians from either side would strengthen the brotherhood.
He informed the Acting Speaker that Chairman of the Saudi Shoora has accepted the invitation extended to him to visit Pakistan and visit would take place during this year. He agreed for enhancing cooperation in diverse sectors of economy. Dr. Atalla also reiterated his government’s support to Pakistan in its economic development and peace initiatives. Saudi delegation is on a three day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi. Apart from meeting their counterparts, the delegation will also meet the political leadership of the country.
