Shutdown observed in IOK
Srinagar, September 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, against the custodial killings of four youth at Pattan and Tangmarg areas of Baramulla district. Shops and all business establishments were closed while public transport was off the road. Call for the strike was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
It was also supported by other Hurriyet leaders. Indian police arrested human rights activist, Mohammad Ahsan Untoo during protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar against the custodial killings of youth. Mohammad Ahsan Untoo was arrested when wearing blood-stained clothes heading towards the United Nations Observers Group office at Sonawar and was lodged at Kothibagh police station in Srinagar.
Hurriyet leaders Syed Bashir Andrabi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leaders and Zahid Ali during their visits to the residences of martyrs in Pulwama and Sopore areas paying tributes to the victims urged the world community to play its effective role in settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, the authorities continued to place Hurriyet leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Aasiya Andrabi and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest while Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik is detained in Sopore police station. Hurriyet leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Nayeem Ahmad Khan in their statements expressing serious concern over human rights violations in the territory demanded international probe into the killings.
Kashmiri representatives Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Altaf Hussain Wani addressing the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva shared the ordeal of illegally detained Kashmiris in Indian jails. World diplomats and human rights activists were stunned over the unfolding of a horror list of things India is doing and hiding from the world.
