Adequate Petroleum Reserves Available in Country: PM

Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed that the country possesses adequate reserves of petroleum products, ensuring that national needs are met due to the government's timely interventions. He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting in Lahore focused on reviewing the implementation of fuel conservation and austerity measures amid the regional situation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government has prioritized providing relief to citizens during the current circumstances, extending significant assistance to the public over the last three weeks. To counter the potential rise in fuel prices, the federal government has allocated a considerable sum of one hundred and twenty-five billion rupees by making cuts in various savings and development budgets, thus shielding the public from the direct impacts of global tensions.

Shehbaz Sharif also instructed provincial governments to facilitate motorcycle and rickshaw owners in registering their vehicles in their own names. This initiative aims to digitize the data of motorcycles and rickshaws nationwide, enabling their owners to benefit from government-provided relief in the future. Additionally, he directed relevant authorities to expedite coordination with the Chief Secretaries of all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Participants at the meeting called on the public to support the government's austerity drive by minimizing unnecessary travel and prioritizing teleconferencing in offices and workplaces. The meeting was informed that the demand and supply of petroleum products, along with the entire supply chain, are being regularly monitored. A digital dashboard has been developed for this purpose, and arrangements for the import of petrol for the upcoming month have been made.

It was noted during the meeting that Pakistan is not experiencing long queues or mismanagement in fuel supply, which is a testament to the government's effective administration. Additionally, the meeting received updates on a newly developed app related to a proposed fuel support program for motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers.
