Islamabad: Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema has urged for strengthened cooperation between Pakistan and the Czech Republic across various sectors, including renewable energy, information technology, healthcare, mining, and green technologies. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ladislav Steinhubel, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted that the trade volume between the two countries stood at 84 million dollars in the current fiscal year, underscoring the need for closer economic collaboration to boost this figure. He also pointed out the potential for exploring Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing in Pakistan, expressing hope that the Czech Republic’s EV industry would collaborate with Pakistan to establish manufacturing plants in the country.

Ahad Cheema welcomed the activation of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between Pakistan and the Czech Republic, effective from June 1, 2024. This agreement lays a robust f
oundation for enhanced bilateral relations, creating opportunities for cooperation across a spectrum of sectors, including energy, technology, and healthcare.

The Minister also stressed the importance of collaboration in educational exchange and manpower supply to further strengthen bilateral ties. He expressed enthusiasm for the inaugural session of the Pak-Czech Joint Ministerial Commission, scheduled for April next year in Islamabad.

The Ambassador conveyed his country’s strong commitment to fortifying ties with Pakistan and expressed optimism about the upcoming JMC session, anticipating it will lead to significant progress in expanding economic and trade relations between the two nations.
