Srinagar, December 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference terming the Delhi rape incident in as shameful, demanded stern action against all culprits involved in such gory incidents including that of Kunan Poshpura in Kupwara.

An APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the Indian civil society and politicians who were making hue and cry over the deplorable Delhi incident maintained a criminal silence over such crimes, perpetrated by men in uniform in the territory over the past two decades. “This reflects the dual standards of Indian civil society and parliament,” the spokesman added.

He said that the widespread public reaction over the shameful act was justified, but added that the same was seen nowhere about the Kashmiris who had been the worst victim of human rights violations at the hands of Indian troops.

Explaining the rights abuses, the spokesman pointed out that “They include violence against women including rape, extra judicial killings, custodial killings, torture and other forms of rights violations.” “It is highly upsetting for the Kashmiris. It is a cause of concern for them as to why the Indian public, intelligentsia and civil society have maintained criminal silence,” he questioned.

The spokesman while asserting that the rape accused in Delhi should be brought to justice, demanded that the people who were involved in the savagely acts of rape in Kunan Poshpura, Shopian and other hundreds of such cases over the past two decades should also be punished.
