APHC leaders call for shutdown to mark Gawkadal massacre on January 21

All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for a shutdown in Civil Lines and adjoining areas on January 21 to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of Gawkadal massacre.

In a statement in Srinagar, APHC leader Engineer Hilal Ahmad War paid tributes to the martyrs of Gawkadal saying the mass massacre was carried out by Indian forces after the inception of struggle for the Right to Self-determination.

He said 52 innocent and unarmed civilians were martyred in cold blood and 250 were seriously injured by bullets when Indian forces under a well thought-out plan opened indiscriminate firing on civilians on January 21 in 1990.

He urged international human rights organizations to set up an Independent tribunal to probe Gawkadal and other such massacres in occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in a statement in Srinagar, National Conference leader Mustaffa Kamal , who is brother of party chief Farooq Abdullah, said that both the 2016 Uri and 2019 Pulwama attacks were planned by the Modi-led Indian government to defame Pakistan.

Mustaffa Kamal said that there were no photos or bodies of the killed soldiers, and that all those who lost their lives were from the Scheduled Caste) categories.
