At UN, Pakistan calls for ending women’s suffering in IIOJK, Palestine

At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for ending the suffering of women and girls under foreign occupation in Indian illegally Occupied Kashmir and Palestine.

Speaking at a debate titled Women, Peace, and Security at the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram said this agenda must accord priority to end the suffering of women in areas under foreign occupation.

He called on the Security Council to address the dire and unacceptable situation of women and girls under foreign occupation.

Ambassador Akram said Pakistan was the first country to endorse the UN Secretary General’s Declaration of shared commitments which identified Women, Peace and Security as a central priority to strengthen UN peacekeeping.

He said an increasing number of Pakistani women peacekeepers in recent years have served as doctors, nurses and police officers in some of the most challenging environments.
