Islamabad: The Balochistan Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has approved a wide-ranging austerity package to reduce government expenditures and conserve fuel amid global and regional economic challenges.
According to Radio Pakistan, the austerity measures include a twenty-five percent voluntary reduction in salaries for members of the provincial assembly. Additionally, the cabinet announced that provincial ministers, advisers, and parliamentary secretaries will voluntarily forgo two months of salaries. Government officers in Grade 20 and above will also contribute two days' salary to support these efforts.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to manage economic constraints faced by the region and aims to set a precedent for financial responsibility within governmental operations.
