Baroness Warsi calls on Prime Minister Gilani
Islamabad: Chairperson Conservative Party and Cabinet Minister Baroness Sayeeda Warsi called on him Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here today. Pakistan – UK bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, war against terror, the role of Pakistan origin citizens in the UK were discussed during the meeting, says a press release received from London here today.
While discussing recent elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister said that the reason why Pakistan People’s Party has been able to gain majority was that its election agenda focused on Kashmir Issue and problems of people of Kashmir only.
The rehabilitation and reconstruction in the aftermath of floods in Pakistan last year were also discussed during the meeting. . Baroness Warsi apprised Prime Minister on the efforts being made by Pakistan Diaspora in helping the country of their origin.. She also emphasized the role of British – Pakistan foundation. Prime Minister called upon energizing the foundation with the view to mobilize more and more British Pakistanis to come forward for the development of their country.
Referring to Pakistan UK relations as trusted and honest Baroness Warsi called for increasing more cooperation for improving government processes. She said that British understanding of Pakistan is based upon historical connections and is more sensitive towards specific needs of Pakistan.
Others who attended the meeting included High Commissioner Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hassan, Press secretary to the Prime Minister Mr. Shabbir Anwer and other senior officials.
