Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney, during which they discussed regional peace efforts and bilateral cooperation. According to Radio Pakistan, during the warm and cordial exchange, the Canadian Prime Minister congratulated Pakistan on its constructive diplomatic role in facilitating recent talks between the United States and Iran, following a temporary ceasefire. He commended Islamabad's efforts in bringing the two sides to the negotiating table. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while appreciating Canada's support and endorsement, described the US-Iran engagement as an important step towards de-escalation. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to encouraging both sides to sustain the ceasefire and advance meaningful dialogue for lasting peace and stability in the region. The two leaders also reviewed Pakistan-Canada relations and expressed a shared desire to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including agriculture, clean energy, and mines and minerals, as well as to enhance Canadian investment in Pakistan. The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the Canadian Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his convenience. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination on issues of mutual interest.
