Dubai, Careem, the popular ride-hailing service, has announced the launch of its Eco-friendly car type in Dubai, marking a significant step towards environmental sustainability in the region.
According to Careem, for an additional AED 0.05 per kilometer, Eco-friendly rides aim to offset carbon emissions, offering a greener alternative without compromising on the comfort of their most-loved Comfort ride. This initiative translates to an extra charge of only AED 1 for every 20 km traveled, contributing towards a more sustainable planet.
In partnership with CarbonSifr, the climate tech partner of Emirates Nature-WWF, Careem will measure emissions and remove them in a sustainable manner. The contributions from these rides will support various local and international conservation projects, such as mangrove tree planting in Abu Dhabi and rebuilding coastal habitats in South Asia.
The introduction of the Eco-friendly car type aligns with Careem’s commitment to addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. By choosing this new ride option, customers in Dubai are not just traveling, but also actively participating in efforts towards a cleaner and greener future.
