Balochistan Govt giving top priority to promote irrigation sector

Government of Balochistan is giving top priority to promote irrigation sector so that more barren land could be irrigated to make the province self-sufficient in production of various food grains.

According to officials, over six billion rupees have been allocated in the current year’s budget for construction of 49 new dams in the province.

Similarly, 572.6 million rupees have been allocated for command area development of phase III of Mirani Dam and Subakzai Dam.

The officials said that 8.8 billion rupees are being spent for 510 new schemes to ensure provision of clean drinking water in all districts of the province.

KP PDMA issues rain, thunderstorms alert in different parts of province

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued an alert about widespread rains and thunderstorms in different parts of the province from today till Friday.

All the Deputy Commissioners in the province have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid any human and material losses.

Pakistan-Iran freight train service restored

Pak-Iran freight train service has been restored after completion of repair and rehabilitation work of railway track damaged due to heavy flash floods near Dalbandin in Chagai district.

According to official sources, the goods trains which were stopped at Dalbandin allowed to proceed towards Iranian city Zahedan today (Monday).

KKH b/w to remain partially closed from 4pm today to 9am tomorrow

Karakoram Highway (KKH) between Thalechi to Chilas will remain partially closed from 4pm today to 9am on Wednesday.

In a statement, Assistant Commissioner Chilas said during the blockade, debris of landslides will be removed from roadsides to makes smooth traffic flow.

The recent torrential rains and landslides damaged the highway between Chilas and Gilgit at many points.

Punjab govt launches special vaccination campaign in five major cities of province

The Punjab government has launched a special vaccination campaign in five major cities of the province for rapid vaccination of maximum number of people.

The opening ceremony of the vaccination drive was held at Shadman office in Lahore while Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sara Aslam presided over it.

Special campaign will be run from July 26 to August 10 in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.

Security arrangements for Muharram in Sindh reviewed

Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said, ample security arrangements would be made for mourning processions and Majalis of Muharram-ul-Haram in the province.

He was chairing a meeting to review security arrangements to maintain law and order during Muharram in Karachi.

The minister said a comprehensive security plan would be devised for Ashura with consultation of Rangers, Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Nasir Shah said the second meeting on security arrangements for Ashura would be chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Raghagan dam incident: Rescue 1122 successfully completed search operation

The Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully completed the search operation after recovering bodies of another three missing persons from Raghagan dam, district Bajaur.

With recovery of these dead bodies the death toll in the incident has soared to seven.

Four teams comprising twenty-five divers of Rescue 1122 took part in the search operation, which continued for four days.

Eleven people were rescued alive after the boat carrying tourists capsized in Raghagan dam on Wednesday.

Mine landslide kills four in Harnai

Four people have been killed during a landslide in a coal mine in Shahraq area of Harnai district.

According to Levies sources, all the four bodies were retrieved from under the debris after six-hour hectic efforts.

An official of the mines department, who was present on the spot, told Radio Pakistan that the labourers were digging coal deep inside the mine when they got stuck due to the landslide.

The official added two of the deceased belong to Swat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the two others hail from Afghanistan.
