Financing for WAPDA Projects discussed with ADB

Lahore, February 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):A 5-member delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on Chairman WAPDA Engineer Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) today. The delegation was comprised of Executive Director for Pakistan Noor Ahmed, Executive Director for Japan Takahiro Yasui, Executive Director for People’s Republic of China Veihua Liu, Executive Director for Korea Sangmin Ryu and Director’s Advisor Ronald Ray San Juan.

The matters relating to development priorities, roadmap and financing of WAPDA projects were discussed during the meeting. Member Finance WAPDA Naveed Asghar Chaudhry and Member Power WAPDA Engineer Jamil Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

The delegation was briefed about the low-cost, clean and green energy generation plan, WAPDA is implementing on priority to minimize dependence on costly thermal electricity being generated on imported fuel and counter its adverse impact on the environment. The delegation was also apprised of WAPDA’s asset base, financial streams and innovative strategy to arrange funds for construction of its projects.

Besides discussing under-construction WAPDA projects, Diamer Basha Dam and Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project in particular, portfolio of the projects, which are ready for initiating construction work namely Thakot and Pattan, was also presented to the delegation for Projects Readiness Financing by the ADB. The delegation was also briefed about the excellent financing opportunities in WAPDA projects.

A meeting of DSPs and inspectors from across Punjab held at the central police office under the chairmanship of IG Punjab

Lahore, February 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that solving the problems of citizens at the police station and circle level is our first priority and the primary duty of field officers, so all DSPs and SHOs should perform their duties with full, hard work, diligence and sincerity and leave no stone unturned in providing all possible relief to the citizens.

IG Punjab said that the lack of communication with officers across the force, from DSPs and inspectors to constables, should be eliminated as best results can be achieved only through close communication between officers and subordinates.

He said that when the officers and subordinates are in close contact with each other, not only there will be timely actions against the criminals but also it will be possible to ensure the immediate solution of the problems of the citizens.

IG Punjab directed that all the field officers should spare no effort in serving and protecting life and property of the citizens along with maintaining law and order in the society. IG Punjab reiterated all possible measures will be taken for welfare and timely promotion of DSPs, inspectors and sub-inspectors and no slack will be left in the welfare measures.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that to pay homage to the martyrs, the work of painting the police flag on the graves of the police martyrs should be started as soon as possible because our martyrs are not only the pride of the department but also the heroes of the nation and actions will continue to highlight their sacrifices.

IG Punjab directed that hard-core policing should be done to prevent crimes and arrest proclaimed offenders across the province, especially the ongoing operations to arrest proclaimed offenders inside country and abroad should be made more effective by communicating with the plaintiffs and information sharing.

Dr. Usman Anwar directed that the criminals and mafias who illegally grab property of the citizens are the evils of the society, and indiscriminate actions should be taken against them in order to eliminate them and bring them under the grip of the law. In this regard, detailed reports of these actions should be sent regularly to the Central Police Office through concerned DPOs.

He gave these directions today during a meeting with DSPs and SHOs from different districts of the province at the Central Police Office. IG Punjab inquired about the problems faced by the field officers and gave them guidelines on public service and security.

IG Punjab while giving instructions to the DSPs and inspectors said that there should be no delay in giving first relief to the citizens by ensuring prompt registration of cases on the applications of dacoity, theft and robbery with unknown suspects.

He further directed to expedite an effective follow-up so that the cases may be worked out and the accused should be punished because the protection of life, property, honour and security of the citizens is our first duty, and negligence in the execution of which can never be tolerated.

He said that DSPs and SHOs should keep in mind that apart from various channels citizens are directly reporting their performance to me through Complaint Center 1787 so all the officers should win the hearts of the citizens by solving their problems and raise the head of department with pride by their good performance.

Dr. Usman Anwar directed that in all the districts of the province, operations should be expedited to stop the production, use and sale of metallic strings and kites and the accused involved in such activities should be given punishments. Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Riaz Nazeer Gara, DIG Headquarters, Humayun Basheer Tarar and DIG IT, Ahsan Younis and other officers also participated in the meeting.

IG Punjab takes notice on incident of killing of three people by firing in Khushab

Lahore, February 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar took notice of the incident in which three persons were shot dead in Khushab. While seeking incident report from RPO Sargodha, he ordered DPO Khushab to ensure prompt action to arrest the accused under personal supervision.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that the accused should be arrested as soon as possible and brought before the court of law and they should be given strict punishment. IG Punjab said that justice should be ensured to the families of the victims on priority basis.

Government working on comprehensive plan for complete eradication of various diseases: Patel 

Islamabad, February 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, Abdul Qadir Patel has said the government is working on a comprehensive plan for complete eradication of various diseases from the country.

Addressing the annual meeting of Federal Directorate of Immunization in Islamabad on Sunday, he said effective measures are being adopted to make further improvements in the national immunization program. The Minister said a collaborative strategy is being formulated to ensure 100 percent results, by reaching every child during every immunization drive in the country.

National immunization strategy being prepared to achieve 100% results: Qadir 

Islamabad, February 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, Abdul Qadir Patel has said the government is working on a comprehensive plan for the complete eradication of various diseases from the country, for the purpose; all available resources would be utilized.

Addressing the annual meeting of the Federal Directorate of Immunization in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that effective measures are being adopted to make further improvements in the national immunization program.

The Minister said that a collaborative strategy is being formulated to ensure 100 percent results, by reaching everyone during every immunization drive in the country. He said that repeated immunizations have protected millions of children, allowing almost many countries in the world to become free from various diseases.

Notification of monitoring committee regarding implementation of austerity policy issued 

Islamabad, February 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):The notification of the monitoring committee regarding the implementation of austerity and austerity policy has been issued. According to the Prime Minister Office, the committee will review the implementation of the decisions taken regarding austerity in the meeting of the Federal Cabinet on 22nd of this month. The Principal Accounting Officer of each federal ministry, division and department will submit proposals regarding the implementation of the decisions by tomorrow.
