Chief Minister approved grant for financially Weak Town Municipal Administrations to pay salaries/pension
Peshawar: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Khan Hoti has approved a grant of Rs. 152.000 millions for financially weak TMAs to meet their urgent requirements of salaries/pension of the staff. It may be recalled that due to insurgency and worst law and order situation coupled with the damages caused by devastating floods, the financial status of the TMAs has badly been affected and some of them are not even in a position to pay salaries/pension of staff and mandated municipal functions. Moreover, despite hectic efforts to control expenditure on one hand and generate fund on the other, TMAs could not overcome the problems.
The Provincial Government has already released an amount of Rs. 75.000 million for the financially weak TMAs during 2010-11 including TMAs Haripur, Tank, Hangu, Puran, Batkhela and Town-I Peshawar.
With the present tranche of Rs. 152.000 million, the financially weak TMAs would be able to meet expenditure of salaries and pension to their respective staff. The concerned staff and their families have thanked the Chief Minister, Amir Haider Khan Hoti for his personal interest in this behalf and saving their kith and kin from starvation.
