China Expresses Interest in Donkey Farming in Pakistan

Islamabad: China has expressed keen interest in establishing donkey farms in Pakistan, in view of the country’s favorable environment for donkey breeding. The interest was shown by a Chinese delegation headed by Vice President of China’s Donkey Industry Branch, Zaho Fei, during its meeting with Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, in Islamabad on Saturday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister welcomed the delegation’s interest and emphasized Pakistan’s strong relationship with China. He stated that permission to set up donkey farms will be granted under a formal agreement after fulfilling all legal requirements. The agreement will clearly state that the breeding of Pakistan’s local donkey population will not be affected.

The Minister added that China’s donkey industry will be allowed to establish farms in the Gwadar Export Processing Zone, where slaughterhouses and export facilities will also be developed. This will enable the export of donkey meat to China via Gwadar Port.

He further stated that this initiative would contribute to boosting Pakistan’s exports and strengthening trade ties with China, along with creating new economic opportunities and employment at the local level.
