Rawalpindi: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of a massive Punjab Development Programme aimed at addressing issues related to sewerage and drainage, along with the rehabilitation of dilapidated roads and streets across the province.
According to Radio Pakistan, the announcement was made during the inauguration of development projects in Rawalpindi. The Chief Minister highlighted that the footprints of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) are being expanded to all cities within Punjab. This expansion will ensure that every city has its own WASA equipped with the necessary machinery and human resources to better facilitate the public.
Furthermore, the government is working towards providing potable water to citizens throughout the province. A programme valued at fifty billion rupees is set to launch, focusing on delivering clean drinking water to the residents of Southern Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized the Punjab Government’s commitment to serving the masses through various initiatives. She noted that approximately 12,000 kilometers of roads have been completed over the past year, with plans to extend this to over 19,000 kilometers by the end of the current year.
Additionally, the Chief Minister reported that around 1,300 Basic Health Units and 300 Rural Health Centers have been revamped and transformed into state-of-the-art mini-hospitals at an accelerated pace.
