CNG stations to remain close for 20 hours
Karachi: In accordance with the Federal Government’s Gas Load Management Plan, SSGC has decided to shut down gas supplies to the CNG stations in Karachi and Interior Sindh from 11 pm on Thursday December 8 till 5 pm on Friday December 9, 2011.
The decision to close down CNG stations for 20 hours was taken after a meeting held between SSGC management and office-bearers and members of CNG associations on December 7, 2011 at the Company’s Head Office.
During the meeting, the Company requested its CNG Industry stakeholders to close down their operations for 20 hours in view of the winter load caused by the additional consumption of gas in the northern part of Sindh and entire Balochistan.
SSGC management reiterates that the 20-hour closure has become indispensable to prevent the Company’s line pack to fall substantially on Saturday December 10, that would have put the entire distribution system under heavy strain and cause the pressure to drop substantially.
The meeting was chaired by Syed Hassan Nawab, DMD (Operations), SSGC. Zuhair Siddiqui, DMD (Corporate Services), Shaukat Baloch, Sr. General Manager (Transmission), Shoaib Warsi, Sr. General Manager (Distribution-South) and Fayyaz Merchant, GM (Coordination Cell) also participated in the discussions.
Abdul Sami Khan, Chairman, CNG Dealers Association, Junaid Makda, former Central Chairman, Junaid Esmail Makda, All Pakistan CNG Association and Shabbir Sulemanjee, Chairman, All-Pakistan CNG Association (Sindh) and CNG bodies’ representatives and station owners participated in the meeting.
