Custodians of the Two Holy Mosque Receives President Asif Ali Zardari At Al Salam Palace, Jeddah
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on his arrival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud at Al Salaam Palace in Jeddah today and discussed matters of wide ranging issues of mutual interest including security in the region and pivotal role of Pakistan in the war against terrorism. Both leaders reiterated their resolve to further deepen bilateral relations and lay greater stress on economic cooperation, says a press release received from Jeddah here today.
President Asif Zardari said that Pakistan favoured political stability in the Middle East and was against use of violence in the region. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah praised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against militancy and said the Kingdom was steadfast friend of Pakistan through thick and thin.
The visit of President Asif Ali Zardari aims at strengthening bilateral ties and to take forward the consultative process on issues of peace, security and political stability in countries of the region that have recently been witnessing violence and turmoil. The visit comes on the heels of President Zardari’s whirlwind tour of Iran and Afghanistan, during which he held series of meetings with Rehbar Ayatullah Khamenei, President Ahmedinajad and Afghan President Karzai.
As a special gesture the Saudi government accepted the credentials of the new Pak Envoy Muhammad Naeem Khan within hours of his arrival in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari was received at King Abdul Aziz international airport, Jeddah by HRH Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier & Minister for Interior, HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah Mukarmah region, Mayor of Jeddah city, Dr. Hani Abu Ras. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Consul General Abdul Salik Khan, Senior Saudi Protocol Officers, dignitaries and Pakistani Officials were also present at the airport to receive Pakistan’s President.
