Daraz Pakistan’s eCom Summit 2023 Prepares for Flagship 11.11 Sale with Unprecedented Gathering

Islamabad, 14 Oct 2023: Daraz Pakistan’s eCom Summit 2023, recently held across multiple major cities in the country, successfully brought together a remarkable congregation of over 4,000 sellers, brands, and a community of more than 600 content creators. This event underscores the collaborative approach to and the potential of Pakistan’s e-commerce sector.

Having the backing of its parent firm, Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, Daraz accentuated the value of offering competitive pricing on their platform. This initiative is in line with their aim to amplify the e-commerce share in Pakistan’s broader retail sector, which is currently pegged at about 2%. In a move supportive of its sellers, Daraz publicized a reduction in the expenses related to packaging material and the ‘Fulfilled by Daraz’ service, thereby assisting sellers in increasing their profit margins while diminishing their operational costs.

In recognition of their outstanding performance in the previous year, Daraz honored several brands. Based on a transparent, data-driven evaluation, accolades such as the E-commerce Brand of the Year went to Unilever, while Haier Pakistan, Bonanza, and Knorr won awards in their respective categories.

Daraz’s Managing Director, Ehsan Saya, commented on the commendable growth journey of e-commerce in Pakistan over the last eight years, stressing the immense prospects for expansion ahead. He emphasized the pivotal role that Daraz plays, with its mission transcending mere business interests. Their aim, as per Saya, is unlocking an array of income opportunities for the Pakistani populace.

Elaborating on the Summit’s evolution, Muhammad Ammar Hassan, Chief Marketing Officer at Daraz Pakistan, pointed out that the event has expanded from merely hosting Seller Summits in preparation for their 11.11 sale. This year’s Summit, given the expanded ecosystem and the introduction of new verticals, decided to include content creators along with top brands. Hassan emphasized the endeavour to make this year’s 11.11 sale matchless for all participants.

Daraz’s Chief Commercial Officer, Arusha Imtiaz, highlighted the platform’s role as more than a mere sales platform. It serves to connect individuals, diminish distances, and foster growth in the digital epoch, and the eCom Summit 2023 stands as proof of this commitment.
