Islamabad: The 36th death anniversary of renowned actor and broadcaster S.M Saleem was observed on Monday. He was a significant figure in the history of radio broadcasting in the subcontinent, particularly remembered for his contributions to Radio Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, S.M Saleem was born in Delhi on 18th August 1929. He began his illustrious career with All India Radio before migrating to Pakistan after the partition. In Pakistan, he continued his career with Radio Pakistan in both Lahore and Karachi, where he became a celebrated voice in the nation's broadcasting history.
Among his most memorable performances on Radio Pakistan was the drama "Rustam and Sohrab," where he played the role of Sohrab alongside ZA Bukhari, who played Rustam. Additionally, S.M Saleem portrayed the role of the celebrated writer Saadat Hasan Manto in the series "Manto Rama," further solidifying his legacy as a versatile actor. He passed away on this day in 1990 in Houston, USA.
