Karachi: The twenty-seventh death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet and playwright Razi Akhtar Shauq is being observed today. He was born in 1933 in Saharanpur, India, with the real name Khawaja Razi-ul-Hassan Ansari. Following the partition, he migrated to Pakistan and made Karachi his home. According to Radio Pakistan, Razi Akhtar Shauq gained wide recognition for his contributions to radio dramas, most notably the popular series "Studio Number Nine" for Radio Pakistan Karachi. His work in poetry also holds a significant place in Urdu literature, marking him as a distinguished figure in both fields. Razi Akhtar Shauq passed away on this day in 1999, leaving behind a legacy cherished by many in the literary and broadcasting communities.
