Islamabad: The 31st death anniversary of poetess Parveen Shakir is being observed today. Parveen Shakir, renowned for her contributions to both prose and poetry, left a lasting legacy in the world of literature. According to Radio Pakistan, Shakir was not only a poetess but also contributed columns in Urdu newspapers and a few articles in English dailies. Her exceptional work earned her the Pride of Performance award, recognizing her significant contribution to literature. Shakir's popular poetry collections include "Sad-barg," "Khud Kalami," and "Inkar," which were compiled in the book "Mah-e-Tamam." Her untimely death in a road accident in Islamabad in 1994 marked the end of her illustrious career at the age of forty-two.
