Srinagar, January 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM), Firdous Ahmad Shah, has condemned the continued illegal detention of innocent Kashmiris languishing in different jails in and outside the Kashmir Valley.

Firdous Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The detainees in different jails are provided substandard food and denied other basic amenities of life including medical care. They are not even produced in courts on the dates of hearing. Most of the detainees remain in jails despite court orders for their release.”

The DPM Chairman expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of unlawfully detained Hurriyet leaders including Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, Musarrat Aalam Butt, Ghulam Qadir and Shakeel Ahmad Butt, who have been behind the bars for a long time.
