Ebad attends Business Roundtable with regards to ‘Doing business and investment in Pakistan’
London, July 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan Thursday visited Bradford during his official visit to the United Kingdom. He also attended a Business Roundtable with regards to ‘Doing business and investment in Pakistan’ in Bradford. The UKTI along with the office of Baroness Sayeeda Warsi and Pakistan High Commission organised the event.
The event primarily aimed at highlighting the potential trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The roundtable included keynote addresses by Baroness Warsi, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, International Trade Director in Yorkshire and The Humber Mr. Mark Robson.
There were also short presentations by representatives of renowned UK companies with experience of trade and investment between the UK and Pakistan followed by short question and answer session. The High Commissioner of Pakistan Wajid Shamsul Hasan also present on the occasion.
While speaking to the guests, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan highlighted the salient features of Pakistan’s economy and the unlimited opportunities of growth and investment which exist in Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan’s investment policies have been formulated to create an investor friendly environment with a focus on further opening up the economy and marketing the potential for direct foreign investment.
The Governor also underlined the scope for British investment in Pakistan and acknowledged that despite numerous challenges to the country, its economy is faring well and cost of doing business in Pakistan is better than its competitors.
The Governor highlighted the opportunities in Education Sector, Energy Sector, IT and Technology and Dairies and livestock. He said that close bilateral relations between the UK and Pakistan greatly helped promote economic links.
The Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan also informed the participants about the recent progress in investment during his current visit. He apprised the participants about the MOUs between Scottish company and Government Departments in Karachi with respect to water desalination, fresh water supply and waste management in Karachi city.
Speaking on the occasion, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi termed Pakistan as the emerging market and asked the British Investors to take advantage of this to the benefit of both the countries.
In the end, the Governor thanked UKTI, Baroness Warsi and the UK Business community for their continued efforts in promoting trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and United Kingdom and organizing the business networking event.
