Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has sanctioned a supplementary grant exceeding 18 billion rupees aimed at supporting the Postal Services and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The decision came during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ECC approved a substantial allocation of 16.995 billion rupees to address the verified pending liabilities of companies and agency partners associated with the Pakistan Post Office Department. This financial support is intended to clear existing debts and stabilize the department’s operations.
Additionally, the committee endorsed a grant of 1.317 billion rupees for the Election Commission of Pakistan. This funding is designated for conducting Local Government bye-elections across all four provinces and Islamabad within the current fiscal year.
The meeting also saw the approval of several proposals aimed at enhancing the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) operational capabilities
. These include initiatives for improving FBR’s operational expertise, anti-smuggling measures as part of the FBR Transformation Plan, and the introduction of a performance management regime. Furthermore, capacity building programs and mobility and transit accommodation arrangements for FBR officers were also given the nod.
