Edhi Foundation Receives Isa Award for Service to Humanity

The Edhi Foundation has been awarded Isa Award for Service to Humanity in recognition of its services for humanity.

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa presented the 4th Isa Award to Faisal Edhi in an official ceremony held in Manama, Bahrain.

Edhi Foundation has also received $1 million, a gold medal, and a certificate of appreciation.

Isa Award for Service to Humanity was established in 2008 in the memory of Emir Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The award is given to different organizations once every 2 years.

The Isa Award is conferred to humanitarian organizations that serve humanity without discriminating on racial, religious, and political grounds.

An international jury of the Isa Award shortlisted the Edhi Foundation and several other charity organizations from all over the world.

The general secretariat and international jury visited the worksites of the shortlisted organizations. During the visits, the services provided by the organizations were assessed. Their achievements and records were also verified.

After comprehensive research, the general secretariat and international jury decided that services, records, and achievements of the Edhi Foundation are unparalleled.

The late Abdul Sattar Edhi established the foundation in 1951. Edhi Foundation is providing welfare services such as ambulances, shelter homes, old homes, orphanages, and morgues.

On 8th July 2016, Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away at the age of 88.
