Islamabad: The government and the Oil Tankers Contractors Association have come to a mutual agreement to address the challenges faced by oil tanker contractors. This decision emerged from successful discussions between Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and a delegation from the association, spearheaded by its President Abidullah Afridi, held in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has established a high-level committee to tackle the contractors' concerns. The committee, led by the Special Secretary for Petroleum, is tasked with presenting its recommendations within a week. During the meeting, the Minister instructed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to prioritize the resolution of legitimate issues faced by oil tanker contractors.

The Minister also mandated that oil marketing companies provide a documented policy concerning freight contracts. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of effective tracking of oil tankers by OGRA and insisted on distinguishing dealer-owned vehicles from primary transportation operations.

Ali Pervaiz Malik reiterated that the government's primary focus is ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply to the public. The Oil Tanker Contractors Association lauded the Minister for his proactive approach and welcomed the initiative to form a high-level committee. The delegation expressed optimism that their issues would be amicably resolved through ongoing dialogue.
