Fahim calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, June 27, 2012 (PPI-OT): Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister for Commerce, called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Prime Minister’s House today and discussed political situation in the country with a view to ensure continuity of political process in Pakistan.

The Minister for Commerce also apprised the Prime Minister about achievements of Ministry of Commerce with special reference to Autonomous Trade Preferentials and GSP + which would entitle Pakistani exports’ access to European markets free of tariff.

The Minister for Commerce also informed the Prime Minister about progress made in promoting trade relations with neighboring countries including India.

The Prime Minister directed the Minister for Commerce to pro-actively pursue promotion of trade relations with immediate neighbors including China, Afghanistan Iran and India.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the upward momentum of exports will continue during the next financial 2012-13 year as the textile sector would play leading role due to the higher yield of cotton this year.
