Federal Minister visits National Institute of Electronics

Islamabad: “There is a pressing need to develop know-how in advanced electronic techniques and to improve R and D (Research and Development) infrastructure”

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali said this while visiting National Institute of Electronics (NIE) here in Islamabad.

On his arrival, Federal Minister was briefed about various projects and initiatives launched by NIE and of its future visions by NIE Director-General Mr. Zafar Iqbal Khokhar. The minister was informed that the organization was facing shortage of technical staff against its sanctioned strength. Mr. Jamali assured that expedite efforts would be made to meet the shortage of staff so that the institution could enhance its output productivity and function smoothly.

Later, Federal Minister visited the labs and technical facilities to oversee their functioning and the scale of work being carried out. Mr. Jamali said that further steps would be taken to equip the labs with state-of -art facilities in order to maximize the research in electronic techniques and improve the institution’s productivity.

“Efforts will be focused on Human Resource Development (HRD), skill development and to impart advanced training in electronics. Also close liaison will be established with other organizations engaged in R and D, academic and production activities”, added the minister.

The minister was also accompanied by other high officials of the MOST.
