Federal Secretary Ministry of Industries stressed the need to bring innovation, out-of-box ideas and knowledge-based activities in our industries

Islamabad: Mr. Aziz Ahmad Bilour, Federal Secretary Ministry of Industries stressed the need to bring innovation, out-of-box ideas and knowledge-based activities in our industries to boost the demand for Pakistani products in the international market.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the attached departments of the Ministry of Industries which included Engineering Development Board (EDB), Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan (USC), National Fertilizer Marketing Limited (NFML) and Department of Explosives.

Talking to the representatives of the EDB, Mr. Bilour said that the Board should facilitate and support the industry in manufacturing a hundred percent indigenous car which can be termed as a truly national car and which should become a symbol of quality in the world of auto engineering.

It was proposed that the Government will support the manufacturing of a low-cost, energy-efficient and spacious indigenous car which will cost almost three-fourth as compared to other cars in Pakistan with the same specifications.

The proposal for the conversion of existing car models into bullet-proof cars was also discussed. The meeting was informed that by using latest technology, the locally assembled cars can be converted into bullet-proof cars without adding unnecessary weight and disturbing the efficiency of the car.

The CEO also proposed that the exports of the Engineering goods from Pakistan, which currently stands at $1.45 billion, can surge tremendously if the engineering companies are facilitated and sponsored to exhibit their products in industrial fairs worldwide.

The Engineering companies are currently facing difficulty in exhibiting their products international fairs because of financial constraints. Mr. Bilour further directed the EDB official to explore the possibility of manufacturing environment-friendly hybrid cars which are fast becoming popular in the United States with a mileage of 51-53 miles per Gallon.

Representatives of the NFML proposed that their organization is preparing a Central Digital Distribution System which will facilitate the customers and the Government to keep a track of the fertilizer consignments and record of the stocks. MD USC briefed the meeting about future expansion of the USC in which the Corporation has planned to open 2000 new stores in the country.

The proposal for digitalization of the USC network by preparing a Management Information System was also discussed. This system will improve transparency and considerably reduce the operational cost of the Corporation. Department of Explosives proposed their ideas for ensuring the safety and security of the life and property of the citizens while giving clearance for the sale of hazardous material.
