Islamabad: Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani on Wednesday lauding the efforts of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), urged for mobilizing community for playing a more effective role to mitigate human sufferings.

During a briefing at PRCS Headquarters here, she said organizations like Red Crescent had their job to work on health education and facilitate masses, however, there was a greater need to mobilize the community especially the youth and encourage them to play their role in this regard.

Fiza Gilani said PRCS’s spirit of selfless and indiscriminate service were in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Fiza said that Pakistan was passing through very difficult situation. On the one hand, the country had to face the floods in 2010 and 2011 which caused losses of both the life and property, while on the other, the security situation in the wake of war on terror and its consequent after-effects also created difficulties for the people, she added.

Despite these heavy odds, the nation’s will to surmount these challenges has remained indomitable with the spirit of brotherhood and selflessness, she said.

Officials of Pakistan Red Crescent Society gave a detailed briefing to her about the Society’s mission, its objectives and services.

They said PRCS being a humanitarian organization, was dedicated to improving lives of vulnerable segments of the society.

The core areas of the work, in line with the overall strategy of PRCS, are Disaster Management, Health Care and promotion of Humanitarian Values supported by an ongoing process of Organizational Development.
