Karachi: In a recent meeting focused on livestock and meat export quality, Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Livestock and Fisheries, emphasized the potential for earning significant foreign exchange by improving the quality of meat exported from the region. The discussion highlighted the need for better regulation and quality control in meat production to enhance market standards and ensure public health.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Najmi Alam presided over the meeting with key stakeholders in the meat export industry, including representatives from Tata Group of Exporters and Meat World. The meeting addressed several critical issues, such as the registration of slaughterhouses and the legislative steps required to ensure that high-quality meat is available in the market. Furthermore, Alam pointed out the necessity for the registration of farms and the tagging of animals, which aims to prevent the consumption of meat from sick and deceased animals.

The secretary of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, along with Additional Secretary Technical Livestock Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro, also participated in the meeting, contributing to discussions on implementing these measures effectively. CEO of Tata Group of Exporters, Bilal Anwar, expressed the industry’s readiness to align with government regulations to improve the quality of exports.
