Gilani Identifies Poverty and Unemployment as Drivers of Terrorism and Extremism

Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has identified poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy as the primary causes of terrorism and extremism. He shared these views during the inaugural session of the Senate of Kalam Bibi International Women Institute Bannu in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Gilani stressed the importance of a comprehensive strategy to tackle these core issues, enabling the youth to play a constructive role in the nation’s development and prosperity. He highlighted the significance of creating opportunities for the younger generation to prevent them from falling prey to extremist ideologies.

The Chairman Senate expressed his support for the Kalam Bibi International Women Institute Bannu, noting that it promises to offer higher and professional education to women in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gilani asserted that providing educational facilities to women is crucial for societal development.

He further stated that the welfare of women and the inclusion of minorities in the nation’s mainstream have always been among his foremost priorities. Gilani’s address underscored the need for inclusive growth and education as tools to combat the challenges posed by extremism and terrorism.
