Governor for making ambulance service effective
Karachi: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, has called for making the ambulance service more effective. He was presiding over a meeting held at the Governor House here on Friday. Various matters pertaining to the Health Department came under discussion.
The Governor praised the work of different organisations and their ambulance services. However, he stressed that there is a need to bring the ambulance services under a coordinated system in order to make them more effective.
This, Dr. Ebad added, would help improve them further and enhance the rapid response. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Provincial Health Secretary and other officials. The Health Minister apprised the Governor of various health programmes going on in the province.
The Governor stressed that there should be coordination among the local governments and the Sindh Health Department in order to make the malaria eradication programme meaningful. He said that the drug control system be also coordinated according to the need.
Dr. Ebad also suggested that the cooperation of the private sector be sought for improving the Health Department’s centres set up in Karachi. He also called for undertaking planning for the setting up of trauma centres in all the towns in the metropolis.
The Governor also called for chalking out recommendations for converging at a single point the central offices of the Health Department for making its activities more effective and coordinated.
