Govt Plans Alternative Justice System for Tribal Districts: Muqam

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, announced plans to align the Jirga system in the merged districts with the constitutional and judicial framework. He emphasized the significance of this alignment while chairing a high-level introductory meeting of the committee established by the Prime Minister for restoring the Jirga system in these districts.

According to Radio Pakistan, Muqam highlighted that tribal elders and legal experts will be consulted to ensure a harmonious integration of the traditional Jirga system with the modern judicial framework. This approach aims to respect local customs while ensuring justice aligns with national laws.

Muqam further stated that the government is actively working on introducing an effective alternative justice system in the tribal districts. The initiative seeks to address the unique needs of these regions, providing a more accessible and culturally sensitive judicial process.
