Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is working to increase the country’s IT exports on a priority basis.
He was talking to a four-member delegation of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association led by Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA Julian Gorman that called on him in Islamabad today.
He said the Federal Government has allocated a record budget in the current fiscal year for the development and promotion of the IT and Telecom sectors.
The Prime Minister said it is the vision of his government that every person should have a smartphone, broadband internet in every home, and QR code facility in every business.
Shehbaz Sharif said the focus has been made on ensuring better access to the internet for the common man, improvement of digital infrastructure, e-governance, vocational training of digital skills among youth and innovation as well as promotion of business.
He said an action plan for reforms and digitization in the Information Technology sector is being implemented.

aid GSMA has a vital and cardinal role with regard to digitization measures.
The delegation apprised the Prime Minister about GSMA’s role in the promotion of telecom services in Pakistan and the world over.
