Group Executive Director of Standard Bank calls on the Prime Minister
Islamabad: Mr V Shankar, Group Executive Director and CEO Europe, Middle East, Africa and America’s Standard Bank called on the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at PM’s House this afternoon and promised that he would arrange meetings of top British CEOs with the Prime Minister during his visit to UK in the month of May this year.
The Prime Minister appreciated the contributions of the Standard Chartered Bank in the economic development of the country and said that it should continue to play its role in this regard and also encourage foreign investment in the country because Pakistan offers lucrative market for the investors.
The Chief Executive of the Standard Chartered Bank appreciated the decision of the government to normalize trade relations with India as it would open new corridors of cooperation leading to jack up the trade between the two countries.
The Prime Minister asked the Chief Executive to hold meetings with the Chambers of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and the Chairman, Board of Investment to find out how best investment can be increased in Pakistan in fields of energy, infrastructure, agriculture etc.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Chairman BOI Mr Saleem H. Mandviwalla, Secretary BOI and other senior officials were also presenting the meeting.
