Haroon Advocates for Increased Use of Olive Oil in Pakistan

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan has emphasized the potential for honey and olive oil produced in Pakistan to become global brands. Chairing a high-level meeting of the SMEDA clusters, he highlighted the necessity of promoting olive oil usage domestically.

According to Radio Pakistan, Haroon Akhtar Khan pointed out the significance of the SME Expo as a milestone and expressed plans for organizing similar expos in the future. These expos are seen as vital for providing clusters with opportunities for exhibition and branding. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed that all SME clusters be connected and supported with necessary facilities. Furthermore, Haroon suggested that such expos should occur more than twice annually across various cities.

Haroon Akhtar Khan also stated that, for the first time in history, the government is implementing tangible measures for the development of the SME sector. He encouraged SMEDA to maintain communication and organize meetings to empower and address the sector's challenges. Additionally, he proposed increasing awareness of locally manufactured "Made in Pakistan" products through expos.

He directed relevant authorities to collaborate with SMEs and SMEDA to devise a comprehensive plan for salt mining, emphasizing development on modern lines.
