Srinagar, January 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): The cross-LoC trade between occupied Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has been suspended following heavy snowfall, which blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road. The trade through Kaman Post in Uri sector was suspended after heavy snowfall rendered the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road unsafe.

Meanwhile, Gulmarg received the highest snowfall with the accumulation of around 5 feet while Srinagar received around five inches of snow. The authorities have also issued a warning about a high danger avalanche in several areas close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

“High danger avalanche warning has been issued for higher reaches of Naugam, Kaiyan and Gurez sector. Medium danger avalanches for higher reaches of Chowkibal, Tangdhar, Keran, Machil, Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Uri. People staying in snow-bound areas of these locations have been advised not to venture in avalanche prone areas,” read an official statement in Srinagar.
