High Blood Pressure – A Silent Killer

Karachi: High blood pressure acts as a silent killer that had caused devastation for many families. Each year 21 million people in Pakistan suffer with kidney problems due to having high blood pressure.

This was said by speakers in the seminar held in City Government’s Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on World Hypertension Day.

Professors of medicine, medical experts and medical consultants attended the seminar.

They said that the high blood pressure also caused death during pregnancy while it affects heart and kidney also.

Dr. Nasir Javed, EDO Health said that primary health care can be proved beneficial to control high blood pressure.

Principal KMDC Professor Waqar Kazmi said that prevention from high blood pressure is essential as this could lead to heart and brain diseases.

He said that by controlling and checking the blood pressure regularly one can overcome the dangers of hypertension.

Earlier a health walk was also organized by Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on World Hypertension Day.

The participants of the walk resolved that they would not only take preventive measures to save them from hypertension but also play active role in creating awareness about hypertension.

A free medical camp was also held on this occasion where blood pressure was checked and sugar and cholesterol test were taken.
